Will Brij Bhushan contest LS poll
The current MP for Kaiserganj stated there wouldn’t be a battle in his seat, even if the BJP announced its candidate an hour beforehand.
Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the BJP MP and former president of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), has stated that there is a 99.9% probability he will run from the Kaiserganj seat in Uttar Pradesh.
The divisive MP, who faced accusations of sexual harassment from female wrestlers, declared that although he is not running right now, he will win the seat with a landslide.
“At this time, I am not a candidate. On the Kaiserganj Lok Sabha seat, however, the BJP is the only contender. I received over two lakh votes to win the seat the last time. The workers’ motto this time is “5 lakh votes,” according to the Kaiserganj MP who is now in office, as reported by news agency ANI.
In Kaiserganj, where he now holds the MP seat, the incumbent indicated there would be no challenge even if the BJP revealed its candidate one hour in advance.
“What can I do if this is what God has decided? However, because I am a good candidate, I will run for 99.9% of the seats; the remaining 0.1 percent would remain. People would make me win, he asserted, even if the party declared the candidate an hour beforehand.
However, the saffron party has not yet revealed who will run for the Kaiserganj seat.
Brij Bhushan is the subject of controversy: Several female wrestlers, including medal winners, staged protests against the BJP leader and called for his arrest due to accusations that he harassed them sexually while serving as the president of the WFI.
Sakhi Malik and Bajrang Punia were among the wrestlers who sat on a long protest at the Jantar Mantar, calling for action against Bhushan. On June 15, 2023, the Delhi Police subsequently filed a case against Bhushan under the IPC’s Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to women with purpose to insult her modesty), 354A (sexual harassment), 354D (stalking), and 506 (criminal intimidation). However, on July 20, 2023, he was given bail.
In addition to being a six-time member of parliament, Bhushan also manages over fifty private schools in and around his home district. For almost a decade, he served as the Wrestling Federation of India’s president.
