Rohit leads ICC ODI Team of the Year | In the Test XI
The two Indians included in the Test Team of the Year were off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Australia’s WTC and ODI World Cup winning captain, Pat Cummins, led the team.
India, led by Rohit Sharma, took first place in the ICC ODI Team of the Year after losing the ODI World Cup final to Australia. Five other Indians were on the team, including Chinaman Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj, the pace pair of Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli.
Over the previous year, Rohit Sharma scored 1,255 runs at an average of 52. In addition to hitting an incredible 208 against the Kiwis, Shubman Gill finished with the highest run total in the format (1,584). With six hundreds throughout the year, Kohli finished as the second-highest run scorer in ODIs (1,337). Apart from being the World Cup Player of the Tournament, he broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most international tons.
India had just two players in the ICC Test team of the year. The two Indians included in the playing XI were all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. Australia’s World Test Championship (WTC) and ODI World Cup winning skipper was Pat Cummins.
With 25 wickets in four matches, veteran off-spinner Ashwin finished as India’s top wicket-taker in the Border-Gavaskar series. Even though India lost the World T20 final to Australia, Jadeja did a good job taking four wickets and scoring a useful 48 at the bat.
Three Indians, Suryakumar Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi, and Arshdeep Singh, who were part of the T02I side, were included in the ICC T20I side of the Year.
In 18 matches, Suryakumar, who was elected captain of the Twenty20 Indian Premier League, amassed 733 runs at a strike rate of 155.95, which cemented his place atop the charts.
The ICC’s women’s ODI squad of the year featured no Indian players, and the T20I squad of the Year featured just one national player, all-rounder Deepti Sharma.

Indian cricketers have dominated the ICC Men’s ODI Team of the Year for 2023; six of their players have earned a position in this exclusive group. Rohit Sharma, who continues to astound the cricket world with his extraordinary leadership and batting abilities, is leading the way as this elite team’s captain. In the course of the year, Rohit accumulated a remarkable 1255 runs at an average of 52. He demonstrated his talent against Afghanistan in Delhi during the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
Another Indian cricket legend, Virat Kohli, put up a strong showing over the course of the year, scoring 1377 runs, including six hundreds. In 2023, he won the Player of the Tournament title after breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most international hundreds during India’s World Cup campaign.

Mitchell amassed 1,204 runs at a strike rate of 100.24 and an average of 52.34, including five centuries.
With the bat, Klaasen was as dominant throughout the year; his match-winning 174 against Australia in Centurion stands out as a particular highlight.
Adam Zampa, an Australian, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, and Mohammed Shami, three Indians, comprised the bowling assault.
Throughout the year, Shami was unstoppable with four fifers; his greatest performance came against New Zealand in the Mumbai World Cup semi-final, when he went seven for 57.
The ICC’s women’s ODI squad of the year featured no Indian players, while the T20I squad of the Year featured just one national player, all-rounder Deepti Sharma.
