Mumbai Police register on Aamir Khan

“This is the world’s largest extortion scheme.” This is something that every Indian businessman is aware of, and it won’t matter how much clarity the Prime Minister tries to provide. Because the Prime Minister is the nation’s acknowledged champion of corruption, Rahul Gandhi continued.

An FIR has been registered at the Mumbai Khar police station about the matter after Aamir Khan criticised a phoney video purporting to show him promoting a political party.

According to an official, Mumbai Police have filed a formal complaint (FIR) against an unidentified person in relation to a deepfake video that purports to show Bollywood actor Aamir Khan endorsing a political party.

According to the official, Aamir Khan’s office filed a complaint on Wednesday at the Khar police station, citing pertinent parts of the Indian Penal Code such as 419 (impersonation), 420 (cheating), and the Information Technology Act. Aamir Khan is heard discussing avoiding rhetoric in the alleged 27-second tape, which appears to have been manipulated using artificial intelligence (AI) technology (jumla).

The actor is allegedly seen in the deepfake video in a scene from a television episode of Satyamev Jayate that aired ten years ago. Aamir Khan’s representative stated on Tuesday that although the actor has previously used Election Commission programmes to increase voter awareness, he has never supported a political party.

The response of TAamir Khan’s team to the video

We would like to make it clear that in his 35-year career, Mr. Aamir Khan has never sponsored a political party. In a statement, the spokesperson stated, “He has committed his efforts to increasing awareness through Election Commission public awareness programmes for numerous previous elections. “The recent viral video that purports to show Aamir Khan endorsing a specific political party has us concerned. He wants it made clear that this is a phoney video that contains no truth at all. He has filed a FIR with the Mumbai Police Cyber Crime Cell and notified the issue to other relevant authorities,” the statement stated.

The actor has also appealed to people to come out and vote and be an active part of the electoral process, his spokesperson added. The Lok Sabha elections will be held in seven phases from April 19 to June 1. The results will be announced on June 4.

In response to a controversial deepfake video featuring actor Aamir Khan, the Mumbai Police have taken action by registering a First Information Report (FIR) against an unnamed individual. The video in question, which circulated widely on social media platforms, depicted Aamir Khan making defamatory statements against the Indian government and expressing support for certain political parties. The deepfake technology used in the video made it appear as though Khan was speaking, although the content was entirely fabricated.

The FIR was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act, which pertain to defamation, forgery, and the creation of fake electronic records. Mumbai Police stated that they are actively investigating the matter to identify the individual or group responsible for creating and disseminating the deepfake video.

The emergence of deepfake technology poses significant challenges for law enforcement agencies, as it enables the creation of highly convincing fake videos that can spread misinformation and cause reputational harm. The Mumbai Police’s swift action in registering an FIR demonstrates their commitment to tackling such digital crimes and holding perpetrators accountable.

The case also underscores the importance of public awareness and vigilance regarding the spread of fake news and manipulated media online. Citizens are urged to exercise caution when consuming content on social media and to verify the authenticity of information before sharing it with others.

In recent years, there has been growing concern globally about the misuse of deepfake technology for malicious purposes, including political manipulation, cyberbullying, and identity theft. Governments and tech companies are actively exploring strategies to combat the spread of deepfake content and develop tools for detecting and mitigating its impact.

Overall, the Mumbai Police’s decision to initiate legal action against the creators of the Aamir Khan deepfake video sends a strong message that digital misinformation and defamation will not be tolerated, and those responsible will be held accountable under the law.
