“It was very strange to receive the award from the President.” It still amazes me that it was all real. It seemed unreal. We had rehearsals before the ceremony, during which we were instructed on where to namaste, turn around, and walk. When my name was announced, even after the practice, my heart was racing,” she remembers, not because she was surprised, but rather because it was finally happening. My heartbeat was audible in both my ears and throat.
The seasoned vocalist says of her experience at Rashtrapati Bhavan, “It was magical.” A strong sense of patriotism is infused by the architecture and the history of everything.”
