The former Netherlands star has actually played five seasons under Gambhir’s captaincy at KKR. Ten Doeschate played 41 matches for KKR between 2011 and 2015. He was already included in the support staff of the three-time champions before Gambhir’s arrival last season.
Indian cricket appoints two assistant coaches
This is the first time that two assistant coaches are being seen in the Indian cricket setup. I think assistant coaches can work and focus on all three departments rather than one particular department. That is why we have two assistant coaches now. We will move forward in this way. Gambhir spoke about his experience of working with Nair and ten Doeschate at KKR earlier this season, when the franchise won its third IPL title. “That will be the essence of the support staff. Ryan ten Doeschate has joined Team India in Sri Lanka as an assistant coach.
