BCCI also informed that star pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who earlier released from the squad, will be rejoining the team in Dharamsala for the fifth Test.
“Jasprit Bumrah who was released from the squad for the 4th Test in Ranchi, will link-up with the squad in Dharamsala for the 5th Test,” stated BCCI in a release.
“Washington Sundar has been released from the squad. He will join Tamil Nadu – his Ranji Trophy side – for their Ranji Trophy Semi-final fixture against Mumbai, starting March 2nd, 2024. He will join the India squad after the completion of the domestic fixture for the fifth Test, if need be,” stated further.
The BCCI also stated that star pacer Mohammed Shami, who underwent a surgery on Monday, will soon head to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru to commence his rehabilitation process.

Rahul could not join the second, third, and fourth Tests against England due to injury after he played the series opener in Hyderabad.
In a major boost for the hosts in the fifh Test, the right-arm seamer Bumrah, who was released from the squad for the 4th Test in Ranchi, will link-up with the squad in Dharamsala.
While providing the fitness update about Mohammed Shami, the board stated that the pacer successfully underwent a surgery on Monday for his right heel problem. He is recovering well and will soon head to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru to commence his rehabilitation process.

Rajat Patidar retains his place in Indian Test squad despite poor show
Madhya Pradesh batter Rajat Patidar has retained his place in the Indian squad for the fifth Test despite his poor performances with the willow. The 30-year-old, who made his debut in the Visakhapatnam Test, has registered 32, 9, 5, 0, 17 and 0 in the series so far.
According to some reports, while Patidar has been retained by the selectors, in-form Karnataka batter Devdutt Padikkal is likely to be handed a Test debut in Dharamsala.
Vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah, who was rested for the fourth Test in Ranchi, will link-up with the squad ahead of the start of the final Test of the series. However, wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul, sidelined due to injury since the first Test, will miss the final encounter as well.

Furthermore, the board confirmed Bumrah’s inclusion, noting, “Mr. Jasprit Bumrah, who was released from the squad for the 4th Test in Ranchi, will link up with the squad in Dharamsala for the 5th Test.”
In Rahul’s absence, Rajat Patidar retains his spot in the Test squad despite a series of low scores. Additionally, the BCCI revealed that all-rounder Washington Sundar has been released from the squad to join his state team, Tamil Nadu, for their Ranji Trophy semi-final against Mumbai, with the option to rejoin the national team if required.
