According to ESPNcricinfo, Jalal Yunus resigned from the post of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director and chairman of the cricket operations committee on Monday. According to the report, the National Sports Council, the controlling authority of 41 different sports bodies in Bangladesh, asked Yunus to resign from his post.
Yunus was also a former Bangladesh fast bowler and played professional cricket in the 1980s. He has also been a sports organiser since the late 1990s. From 2009, he held an important position in the BCB and later became the head of cricket operations in 2021.
Yunus said that he does not want to stop the progress of cricket in Bangladesh by remaining in this position. I have resigned for the larger interest of cricket. I am in favour of running cricket in the right way. I agree with their intention to replace me as per the constitution. I do not want to be an obstacle in the progress of cricket.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh will take on Pakistan in a two-match Test series starting August 21. The second Test of the two-match series will be played from August 30 to September 3. Both matches of the series will be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

The BCB, the custodian of Bangladesh’s most popular sport, has been built on the back of political influence over the past 15 years.
