Akash and Rohit spotted arriving at Wankhede
An image of Mumbai Indians owner Akash Ambani was seen sitting next to Rohit Sharma before the team’s IPL 2024 matchup with Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Fans captured Rohit Sharma sitting close to what appears to be Mumbai Indians owner Akash Ambani in a car prior to the team’s April 11 IPL 2024 matchup with Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The automobile stopped at the Wankhede stadium ahead of Thursday’s big match. Rohit, the former MI captain, was in the passenger seat, while Akash is thought to be driving. The physical aspect of the driver of the car resembles the owner of MI quite a bit, even though their face is obscured.
Many on X reposted the brief video, sparking rumours that something significant might be developing within the MI camp. The release of the video coincides with a period of change for MI. MI hasn’t had the greatest of seasons; they’ve dropped three of their last four IPL 2024 games, winning only once against the Delhi Capitals.. As one of India’s leading cricketers and the captain of the Mumbai Indians IPL team, Rohit Sharma’s presence at the stadium is not unusual.
In addition to being severely damaged by the Hardik Pandya captaincy controversy, MI has been the target of many supporters who want Rohit to return to the captaincy. Furthermore, once a video of the two surfaced, there is a perception that something has to give, possibly even the chance for Rohit to regain MI’s captaincy in the middle of the season.
There have been previous sightings of Rohit and Akash together. The two were engaged in a heated conversation at the MI dugout earlier following MI’s defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad, who were playing for the second time under Hardik.
Some former cricket players have also endorsed the Rohit-Hardik switch notion. It’s highly probable that Rohit would be handed back the captaincy if MI’s circumstances don’t improve quickly, according to former India and Bengal batsman Manoj Tiwary. Chennai Super Kings carried out a similar action in 2022. News of MS Dhoni’s replacement as captain, Ravindra Jadeja, surfaced two days before CSK’s IPL debut. However, Dhoni returned to lead the team following five straight losses.
It remains to be seen if MI takes the same turn, although there is a feeling within that this may not be the immediate plan.
How fans were shocked by Hardik’s return to MI
In an all-cash deal completed in November of last year, Hardik’s return to the MI was sealed following two productive years at the Gujarat Titans. Fans welcomed this move, but many weren’t happy that MI chose Hardik to be the new captain, ending Rohit’s illustrious ten-year tenure as captain.
The administration thought Hardik, who had guided GT to multiple IPL finals, would revive MI’s heyday because the team hadn’t won the IPL in three years, but the supporters weren’t sold on the concept.
Even now, there is still opposition to Hardik’s captaincy announcement that started on the same day. When MI played GT in Ahmedabad to start the season, Hardik was jeered much more in Hyderabad and at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The level of hatred in the crowd for Hardik was so high that Sanjay Manjrekar had to go in and tell the people to “behave.”
Akash Ambani and Rohit Sharma were seen arriving together at the Wankhede Stadium, sparking speculation about their purpose. The duo’s joint appearance has piqued the interest of fans and media alike, with many speculating about the nature of their visit. As one of India’s leading cricketers and the captain of the Mumbai Indians IPL team, Rohit Sharma’s presence at the stadium is not unusual.
However, the addition of Akash Ambani, scion of the Ambani family and a prominent figure in the business world, has raised eyebrows and led to speculation about a possible collaboration or event.
Both Akash Ambani and Rohit Sharma are well-known figures in their respective fields, and their joint appearance has generated excitement among fans. The Wankhede Stadium holds special significance for both men, with Rohit Sharma having played numerous memorable matches there, and Akash Ambani’s family having strong connections to the city of Mumbai and its cricketing culture. While the exact reason for their visit remains unknown, their presence together at the iconic stadium has certainly captured the attention of cricket enthusiasts and media outlets alike.
And even so, it was insufficient. Tension increased as MI lost three straight games before splitting up for a six-day break to recuperate. And MI finally got off to a good start after returning, defeating the Capitals by a score of 29 runs. Although it has decreased, jeering still occurs. Nobody knows if it will go away completely or just gradually. The one thing, though, that will undoubtedly turn the jeers into applause is Rohit’s return as captain.
